Hyalinobatrachium pellucidum

This species has been recently discovered in Colombia, but is in danger of extinction. This is a small frog that lives in trees near rivers. Can be found in the forests of North America: Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina ... around the Amazon and Orinoco rivers. Campaigns are trying to protect.

Females lay eggs on the leaves of trees and shrubs, or on the rocks, but always near the river's water so that when hatched, the tadpoles can reach the water without difficulty. Once there, finish their development.

frog's name is because glass has a transparent skin (as seen in the pictures), which reveals their internal organs.

Fact: The scientific expedition that found this frog discovered, also in the same forest in Colombia, 6 amphibians and a salamander.

Spiders have always been one of the best Asenine of nature: weaving networks which trap their victims, then devour. With one exception: this curious specimen that eats only buds, leaves and small shoots of Acacia trees, stealing them from the ants that are responsible for their care.


Fact: It takes a mutualism between ants and the plant: the first care of the Acacia other herbivores and in return have a place to live, and food, the plant nectar secreted at the base of the leaves as well also feed on the same leaves. The spider looks at the situation and takes the time to steal the food for the ants without being seen.

Because a vegetarian diet because it does not hunt insects, does not weave nets for this purpose, only to build nests where they keep their offspring. Another difference from other spiders is that it eats the male after copulation. Vegetarian spider is the first of the 40,000 known species.
